EMDR

Why are we so excited about EMDR?

We’ve been helping people for more than 30 years and we’ve seen any number of types of therapy come and go. So when we get excited about a type of therapy, that says a lot! EMDR is just that-exciting, effective and fast. This isn’t just us saying that, There is plenty of research showing time and time again that EMDR gets positive results significantly sooner than traditional talk therapies. AND that means people are feeling better-sooner.

Why does it work?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and has demonstrated effectiveness for trauma.

In a technical sense, EMDR appears to trigger the brain’s natural processing systems, reduce or eliminate uncomfortable emotional intensity and improve memory consolidation. This means it works to resolve those internal conflicts and terrible experiences. People feel better.

What is EMDR good for?

Lots of painful and disturbing conditions, like anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic disorder, nightmares and even relationship conflicts. it almost sounds too good to be true…how can EMDR effectively help so many problems? Is it a Miracle Cure?

NO, it is NOT a miracle cure but some might think so. Seriously, it’s really about what all these issues have in common: DISTURBING INTENSE EMOTIONS and POOR MEMORY CONSOLIDATION. These are the 2 critical factors that disrupt the brain’s processing and exactly what EMDR is really effective for.
