Here are a few suggestions to help grievers on Valentine’s Day:
Don’t pretend nothing’s wrong or it doesn’t hurt. Your heart’s going to remind you.
Find someone who will listen without giving advice or trying to “fix it.”
On Valentine’s Day, plan meaningful things to do, such as visiting someone or someplace, finding a quiet spot to contemplate or meditate, or create an activity that honors or memorializes or celebrates that relationship.
Do some writing, drawing, painting about that relationship, about your hopes and dreams.
Create a poem or story.
Don’t let yourself become invisible, reach out, make the effort to connect with others.
If you find yourself with a box of assorted chocolates, call a friend to share.
